EMC unveils new EMC Clariion CX4 series of midrange storage systems

August 5, 2008 - EMC Corporation has come up with the new midrange of storage systems, EMC CLARiiON CX4 Series comprising of four models namely CX4-120, CX4-240, CX4-480 and CX4-960 which the company claims will manage and consolidate information while consuming least amount of energy and giving an option of a flash memory.

 

The company says that this new series is ideal for virtual server environments as it include features like 64 bit EMC CLARiiON FLARE® storage application, UltraFlex™ technology, dual fibre channel, low power one terabyte SATA disk drives, Virtual Provisioning capabilities and Built-in disk spin down capabilities. Further EMC gives support to Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) which is a part of all CX4 systems.

The new series comes integrated with flash technology, VMware Site Recovery Manager and RSA enVision®, claims the company. Speaking further on the launch, David Donatelli, President of the EMC Storage Division, said “The CLARiiON CX4 Series is unmatched in the industry when it comes to scalability, features, energy efficiency and ease of use. With this next generation of systems, we’ve extended our technology leadership and have widened the competitive gap even further.”

The CLARiiON CX4 Series will be available from EMC, its Velocity Program Partners and Velocity Authorized Services Network (ASN) Partners. Further Dell and Fujitsu Siemens Computers will also sell this new series under the brand Dell/EMC and FibreCat respectively.
