Tailored solution packages for mainframes CentricStor SBU (Smart Backup Unit) is a tailored virtual tape solution package for enterprises with mainframes at the lower end of the performance spectrum to innovate their tape operations on the basis of virtual tape technology.
Some older drive technologies commonly used in mainframe environments are reaching the end of their lifecycle (36-track drive generation and Magstar via SP_CC). CentricStor SBU represents an attractive and innovative solution for this segment and is offered as a complete solution package for the operating systems BS2000/OSD, OS/400, VM, or VSE, including the necessary software components and control processor. The solution provides access to state-of-the-art tape technology for hosts with ESCON (type S channel) or FC controllers and includes a Scalar i500.
